Staffordshire Oatcakes, the famous delicacy from Paul’s homeland of Stoke-on-Trent. Here we hear some Potteries dialect from an era that has all but disappeared. ‘Honorary Stokie’
Karen loves a good Oatcake and works on her local accent to match - Stoke-on-Trent meets Stuttgart!

Lyrics

So you darn and sew, you put the kettle on
You dolly and you mangle till the washing day is done
It’s almost time for dinner but the oatcakes are all gone
And you conner get no moer till the weekend

Verse 1:
The Boothen End is restless, the teams gone down a hole
Don’t think we've seen a decent game since Banksy was in goal
But it’ll soon be Potters Fortnight and we’ll all be goin’ Rhyl
And the kids will want some money for the donkeys

So you darn and sew, you put the kettle on
You dolly and you mangle till the washing day is done
It’s almost time for dinner but the oatcakes are all gone
And you conner get no moer till the weekend

‘arf a pound of mince duck and something for the dog
Take it from me Christmas pot, I’ll put some lobby on
Borrow me some sugar duck, me old man’s on the club
And ee dunner get 'is Giro till next Friday

So you darn and sew, you put the kettle on
You dolly and you mangle till the washing day is done
It’s almost time for dinner but the oatcakes are all gone
And you conner get no moer till the weekend

Hey, dunner start on me duck, I conner ‘elp me back
It’s working at the pit that does it, shoveling all the slack
If you were only 'arf a man y'd 'elp me 'round the 'ouse
'stead of practicing yer darts down at the pit club

So you darn and sew, you put the kettle on
You dolly and you mangle till the washing day is done
It’s almost time for dinner but the oatcakes are all gone
And you conner get no moer till the weekend
